GRAPHIC DESIGN & WEB DESIGN by GAZ BATTERSBY

Effective design is as much about honest & open communication, as it is about grids and layout.

hello

They say 'A stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet'. Equally they could be the most likely candidate to kill you, skin you, and turn up to your work wearing your flesh like a suit… just saying.
Let's see how this turns out then.

about iamgaz

I am an experienced creative designer with a solid mix of design and marketing skills.

Having spent half my career in Third Sector organizations, and the other half in design and marketing agencies. I have a very balanced view of what role design should play in society.

Design should be open and inclusive. I am not to fond of exclusivity or brands which offer, what I consider, damaging aspirations or unobtainable goals.

Good design should be accessible, embracing universal concepts that everybody can comprehend.

All sounds a bit worthy I know, but it is what I believe, and what I want to get out of all the work I do.

the professional bit

I have over 11 years of experience in design and creative communication roles. In positions a diverse as Designer, to Studio Manager to Creative Client Services Director.

I love both print and web work, and have even tried my hand at interior design and film work.

I relish the chance to develop an idea from scratch, working with clients to communicate their ideas in the most effective manner possible.

I have done this for well known brands and organisations, such as the NUS, NHS, GHD Hair, Rizla, Leeds University, West Yorkshire Police, Yorkshire Forward and Warburtons.

There is no way around this. I am a massive nerd. Always have been always will be. Ever since I got my hands on a Atari 2600 as a kid I have been interested in computers and gaming. Although as I progress into my 30’s the time I have to spend exploring this new and exciting medium is getting less and less.

To counteract the time I spend in-front of a screen I am also interested in middle distance running. This dragged my arse of the sofa for my first run about 2 years ago with varying success.

I am always up for new and interesting personal projects so if you have something interesting you have as a germ of an idea at the back of your brain, please get in touch and let me know.
